Michael E. Walschlager

Michael Walschlager is an attorney at the Carmel, Indiana law firm of Smith & Wade. His legal practice is focused on Insurance Defense Litigation, Coverage Litigation, and General Civil Litigation.

Mr. Walschlager received his Juris Doctor degree in 1995 from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, IL. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in General Management from Purdue University in 1988.

After attending law school, he owned and operated Vending Concepts, Inc., a small independent business, for six years. Beginning in January 2001, he served as a deputy prosecutor for the Marion County Prosecutor's Office until 2004. He tried approximately 15 jury trials and countless bench trials while working as a deputy prosecutor.

He has worked in the insurance defense field at Kopka, Pinkus, Dolin & Eads, LLC and Smith, Fisher, Maas & Howard, PC over the past six years handling cases involving automobile negligence, premises liability, municipal liability, construction negligence, wrongful death, and products liability. He has tried approximately 10 civil jury trials to verdict as lead counsel.  He also worked as a claim consultant for Hartford Insurance Company directing and overseeing counsel on all litigated large loss claims. 

Mr. Walschlager is licensed to practice in the State of Indiana, including the
United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
