Randall A. Lakey

Randall A. Lakey is an associate with the Carmel, Indiana law firm of Smith & Wade where his main areas of practice include insurance defense, insurance coverage, commercial litigation, and appeals.

He received his B.A. from Purdue University and his J.D. for Creighton University School of Law. Mr. Lakey is a member of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana, the Indianapolis Bar Association and the Indiana Bar Association.

Prior to joining Smith & Wade, Mr. Lakey gained significant experience in criminal prosecutions, criminal defense, and plaintiff personal injury. Mr. Lakey has jury experience in diverse areas, with cases involving the death penalty, drug possession, sexual assault, chemical exposure, wrongful death, traumatic brain injury, premises liability, and motor vehicle accidents cases including automobile accidents, semi truck accidents, and ATV accidents.

He has written several articles and has been a speaker at numerous seminars on topics such as Current Issues Impacting Insurance Defense Practice in Indiana, Strategies for Successfully Trying the Automobile Injury Case in Indiana, and Deposition Practice in Indiana.

Mr. Lakey grew up on the west side of Indianapolis and attended high school at Cardinal Ritter High School. From 1993 until late 1999 he practiced law in Danville, Illinois. Mr. Lakey returned to Indianapolis in 2000 and lives on the north side with his wife Andrea. They attend St. Joan of Arc Catholic church and can usually be seen eating in various locally owned restaurants, attending various local festivals, and entertainment events. Mr. Lakey is an avid runner and regularly volunteers for the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
